If you want to make a difference, draw a smile on children's faces or transmit your know-how...Shepherds Orphanage is definitely the place to be,  you will be assured of an unforgettable voluntary experience!

One of the most interesting aspect of volunteering at Shepherds is FLEXIBILITY! Volunteers can decide on their action plan depending on their skills, interests and qualifications.

Numerous activities can be performed such as:

  •  teaching and coaching
  •  animating, singing, playing with kids or sport activities
  •  arranging events or outings
  •  helping in the daily house tasks: cooking, washing dishes or cloth
  • fundraising project
  • managerial and organisation tasks
  • staff trainings
  • social activities and workshops
  • hygiene, health and sanitation programs
  • construction and improvement of placement

or you can simply come up with your own project or area of improvement!

Volunteers are directly welcomed at Shepherds, you will automatically feel part of the Shepherd's family. Both children and staff value and appreciate any type of contribution to the project. Staff members are open to suggestions and improvements, they are eager to assist you in any way. They see you as a source of new ideas with different cultural approaches.

If you apply for a placement, Shepherd's can provide secure host families for your accommodation and food in the nearby area. Please contact Judy for your inquiries.

   Children's words about volunteers:

My name is purity i am in standard 8 at Shepherds orphanage and education center. I am so greatful for all volunteers who have come to our school to visit us and help us in different ways. Other volunteers come from out countries to Kenya and visit our school.

We also hope that God will still continue to bring more and more to come and visit us and see our school. Children are happy because of seeing white people and sharing what they have with them with them and also know and understand their language. The volunteers even makes us get a lot of donors from their countries because they mainly come from different countries.

Also i am hoping that from nursery till standard 8, each will have a sponsor because our God is not poor.
